Karol Piekarski
Founder and analyst at Medialab Katowice, freelance researcher, Python and Linux enthusiast. Author of Data-Driven Methods for City Research and Exploration (2015) and Data Culture. Attention Enhancing Algorithms (2017, in Polish).
He holds a PhD in Humanities for his work on the economy of perception and strategies for reducing information overload.
He has led several interdisciplinary research projects involving data processing and visualisation, e.g. Data for Culture within the Shared Cities: Creative Momentum platform diagnosing cultural and social trends in Central Europe.
He is an alumni of The International Visitor Leadership Program by the U.S. State Department, and has held a visiting position in the National Centre for Geocomputation at Maynooth University (Building City Dashboards project).
Currently collaborating with several organizations, e.g. Creative Industry Košice, Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava, and teaching at Silesian University and the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
