Data for culture report with German Design Award 2021
→ Tired of reading yet another 100-page report published in a static pdf file? So am I. This is why, when making the Data for culture research summary in the Medialab, we employed interactive diagrams, maps and data visualizations which you can easily scroll through on your phone.
This project recognized by the German Design Awards jurors is the result of research conducted under my direction as part of the Shared Cities: Creative Momentum initiative with funds from Creative Europe.
We teamed up with cultural researchers, designers, programmers and data scientist to study responses given by 3633 participants in over a dozen local events, and analyze tens of thousands of posts published in social media.
Our case studies demonstrate how cultural researchers can use digital tools and data analysis to have a go at understanding the ever-changing cultural landscape of the city in the networked urban space.
The graphic design was created by Waldemar Węgrzyn and Paulina Urbańska from Medialab Katowice, and implemented by Dawid Górny, Krzysztof Granek and Michał Smoliński.
